Lakehead University (Orillia campus) students are eligible for a membership at the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka during the Fall and Winter semesters. There is no additional cost for the membership as it is already covered in your athletics fees. The YMCA offers a wide variety of recreational activities to help you stay active and reduce stress.

How do I get my membership?
Get your photo taken and pick up your Lakehead student card from Security.
Get your yearly validation sticker from Student Central located in Simcoe Hall and place it on the back of your student card. This shows that you are a registered full time student.
Bring your Lakehead student card with your validation sticker to the YMCA membership desk at 300 Peter St. N. The YMCA will then take your photo and print your YMCA membership card.
Where can I use my membership?
The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka has 8 fitness centres for you to choose from. Depending on where you live you can access centres in Barrie, Collingwood, Gravenhurst, Innisfil, Midland, Orillia, Parry Sound and Wasaga Beach.
Many YMCAs allow you to use your memberships outside of the Simcoe/Muskoka region when you are away during holidays or academic placements. Check with your home YMCA as there can be limits to the number of times you can work out using a membership from another region.
When is my membership valid?
Your YMCA membership is valid during the Fall and Winter semesters (September through April).
What is included with my membership?
Your membership provides access to our general adult locker rooms, which include locker facilities, showers, washrooms and change area. Monthly lockers or towel service can be rented at an additional fee. Your membership also includes access to quality YMCA programming and services at no additional fee.
Select programming including martial arts and advanced aquatics requires registration and payment.
What type of drop in classes are offered?
Members can drop in to group cycle, aquafit, gravity and other fitness classes. The drop in class schedule is available through the athletics and rec office on campus, at the YMCA membership desk and online.
