On Friday, November 2, 2018 the Lakehead Men's Hockey team started bright an early as they played the Humber Lakeshore Hawks at 8:20 AM in the Fall Faceoff Hockey Tournament. Fortunately, the Thunderwolves did not let the early morning get to them as they came out with a 3-1 victory. Scoring the first Thunderwolves goals of the day Dexter Bridge (#89), Quinn Wilson (#4), and assistant captain Lucas Chiarot (#55). Next, the Thunderwolves were up against the Sheridan Bruins, and once again the Thunderwolves emerged victorious with a hat trick from assistant captain Ryan Rodgers (#15), Quinn Wilson (#4) with 2, and Santino Tonigussi (#9) with 1. This successful morning bumped the boys directly to the semifinals against the La Cite Coyotes. With one goal from captain Andrew Dobson (#96), every fan in the stand was at the edge of their seats as the two teams managed to stay tied 1-1 one for entire game, which led to a shootout. The Thunderwolves were victorious, with Noah Sands (#91), scoring the winning goal in the shootout. The Thunderwolves headed to the championship game against the Seneca Sting. Lakehead hit the ice hard with the back-to-back games, and were tournament finalists at the 2018 Fall Faceoff.
Great work to all participating teams on both days! A big THANK YOU to Georgian College Orillia Grizzlies for hosting this tournament at Rotary Place arena in Orillia. We would also like to give a shout out to our Thunderwolves coaches Tim, Nick and Darren, for their dedication and commitment to our men's hockey team!
