Recap of Thunderwolves Dance Pac 2024-25 season
The 2024/25 season marked the third anniversary of the Lakehead Competitive Dance Team’s running since COVID-19. This year, the team also came into their official name of the Thunderwolves Dance Pac. In the three years of growth the team has had, this was their most successful year in the studio and on the stage yet. The Thunderwolves Dance Pac practiced every Sunday throughout both the fall and winter semesters, with some members dedicating 10 hours of their Sundays to the team. While at practice, the growth was not only as dancers, but also as a team and family, which was exceptional to see.
The Thunderwolves Dance Pac competed at three varsity competitions this season: Strive Dance Challenge, Be U: Varsity Challenge, and VIEW Varsity Dance Challenge. At these competitions, they went head to head against other talented university and college teams from across the province and the country. After each competition, the team left feeling inspired and even more motivated for the season to come.
Some of our competition highlights include:
- Ashley Veldbloom’s Open solo won 8th overall and Judge’s Choice at Strive, 2nd overall and Judge’s Choice at Be U, and 3rd overall and a special award at VIEW.
- Reese Chamberlain’s Improvisation solo won 1st overall at VIEW.
- Maddie Hilliard and Ashley Veldboom’s Open duet won 2nd overall at Strive, 3rd overall at Be U, and 1st overall with a special award at VIEW.
- Our Musical Theatre small group received the Musical Theatre Discipline award at Be U.
- Our Jazz Large group won 3rd overall, and our Open Small group came 5th overall at Be U.
- Lastly our team as a whole was awarded “Best Team Performance” and placed 5th overall team at Be U.
This competition season, we set new personal and team bests, but what truly matters to us is so much more than that. We came closer together as a team, were inspired by each other and every team we faced, and ultimately became better competitors and dancers because of this. The Thunderwolves Dance Pac is already in preparation for the 2025/26 season, and cannot wait to continue to thrive as competitive dancers, but most importantly a family.
